Lumineers

Lumineers are a special type of porcelain veneer which are thinner and much stronger than regular veneers. They can be applied to teeth without any pain or need of anaesthesia and can be removed if desired.

Other advantages of lumineers are that while they last as long as other veneers, they are less expensive. They also resist micro-leakage. Lumineers, like veneers, provide whitening of teeth along with strengthening them. Lumineers can also be used to change the shape and length of the tooth and are very resilient while looking natural. Lumineers can be used to hide stains and chipped, worn out teeth.

There are also disadvantages to lumineers. The amount of smile correction possible is limited when using lumineers. If you have a misaligned bite and grind your teeth, there are high chances of chipping or cracking the lumineer.

Since lumineers are thinner than other veneers it takes more skill to apply them correctly. It also gets tricky when matching the colour of the lumineer and hence you should look for an experienced and skilled cosmetic dentist to apply lumineers on your teeth.

Lumineers can give you a better looking smile, but ultimately they will also be successful only if you have impeccable oral hygiene and healthy teeth.
